Ushas, loomed within days of Theta, excelled in her classes, especially in xeno-biology, science being her particular forté. While she was eventually expelled because her experiments created giant mice which proceeded to eat the Lord President’s cat, she had been experimenting secretly long, long before that, and never - or rarely - had she been caught. Ushas has never had a particularly evil stroke; she simply considers morals to be beneath her, and useless when it comes to science. She and the Doctor were once an item; they quickly found they weren’t working, however, and the split was amicable, though Rani would never admit she still has slight feelings for him. Though, of course, she does not display fully ‘evil’ attributes until long after she has left the Academy, Ushas is beginning to develop them. She is willing to join the Koschei in his own experiments, though while he does it solely to torture for fun, she is truly trying to push scientific discovery, and believes Koschei to be childish about such things. The two have even, sadistically, tortured fellow students - they have never been caught doing so, as Koschei has developed his hypnosis specifically to aid them, and wiping their memory ensures if the student ever remembers, it will only manifest as a nightmare. They are careful never to do this too often. She and Koschei, in fact, swiftly developed a relationship beyond that of mere friends, or even best friends. One field trip to Earth the two learned of the phrase termed ‘friends with benefits’; Ushas put the idea to Koschei upon their return, and the two have kept it secret ever since - especially from Theta. Koschei was a snappy dresser and an avid reader, even if the book was written by a different species, and academically specialises in Cosmic Science. From a young age he has displayed certain insane qualities, often torturing small animals for ‘fun’ and making curious suggestions. The Doctor and the Master would often sneak away from classes to run through fields and forests and the red grass of Mount Perdition, in Koschei’s father’s estate. They would sit by the river Lethe and stare at the stars, making plans to be free of Gallifreyan society and wander throughout the universe. The two formed a band, which they named the Gallifreyan Academy Hot Five. Though the Master appears to be suave, sophisticated, he can slip. He loses his temper easily, and when caught off-guard a Time Lord can see the superficial layer covering the deep, intense levels of insanity. He and Ushas, in fact, swiftly developed a relationship beyond that of mere friends, or even best friends.
